The Plano Police Department, in collaboration with the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Police Department, has apprehended Nicholas Ray Carney, a 64-year-old individual hailing from Ardmore, Oklahoma. Carney stands accused of being involved in two distinct incidents of child abduction and sexual assault that occurred in 1991 and 1999. Through their combined efforts, law enforcement agencies were able to bring Carney to justice.

The suspect in both cases, Carney, has been identified. Carney has lived in different states including Texas, Oklahoma, California, Minnesota, and Georgia. He has held various jobs such as working in auto body shops, being a satellite installer, and working as a door-to-door salesman for Kirby vacuum cleaners. In 1980, he was even known to drive an ice cream truck in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Descriptions of Carney consistently describe him as having a white or Hispanic appearance, with a mustache and a “small beer belly,” and as someone who heavily smokes cigarettes.
