Lake Roosevelt Boys basketball team competes in Chelan Jamboree
December 6, 2022
The Lake Roosevelt boys basketball team competed in the Chelan Jamboree Nov. 26 taking home wins against Chelan and Wenatchee High Schools.
The boys played and beat Chelan first starting the game off 12-0.
“Our defense and ability to steal the ball were strengths for us,” said senior captain Chase Clark. “Not running enough plays was our weakness.”
The games were each just ten minutes long, giving teams a glimpse of what is to come this season.
“We do good most of the time, but when we get yelled at we do better,” said junior captain Chase Marchand, who noted the team has set high expectations for themselves.
“We’re going to win state, we have a really good squad.”
“I feel pretty good about the upcoming season. We’re going to make it to state, hopefully get a ring,” said Clark
The boys worked well together for their first outing of the season. The boys ability to adjust to situations was something the coaches loved to see.
“For the start of our year, I felt like they did a great job of looking for each other on offense and making the right read or pass. On defense I was impressed with their intensity as a whole, and their team helpside defense. This team is the most selfless team I’ve coached since I’ve been here,” said coach Jeremy Crollard.
Coach Crollard has the same expectations as his boys about how the season will go. “We have high expectations for this season. Obviously, we have a very tough league. I feel like we have 3 of the top 10 teams in the state, in our league. We need to take it one game at a time and work hard to improve every practice and every game. This team is ultra competitive and if each individual understands that the team comes first and they put that work in every single day then we will be where we want to be.”
The boys now take on Liberty Spangle in Liberty Spangle December 3rd at 6:00.
