Spring Sports Preview: New goal brings new goals to Tennis

Sage Fenton, Student Writer

The 2023 Lake Roosevelt High School Tennis season started up this spring Feb. 27.

The coaches this year are Mr. Brewster and Mr. Atkins. Atkins previously had worked as a volunteer assistant coach with the team.

“My goal is to develop my student athletes into contenders for the state tournament and also help guide them and lead them to fulfilling their goal as a tennis player as a program as a whole. I would like to be in the top three for districts,” said Coach Brewster.

Brewster would like to see “a hard working motivated team that is going to  surprise everyone. We are going to be team focused to push everyone.”

From the 2022 season the team lost Kaylee Lachelle, Raeanna Joe, Ren Iff, Terai Shanklin-Bob and head coach Billy Monroe.

Varsity returners include Amy Dorman, Riley Ayling, Sage Fenton, Addy Yonaka, Jenna Cleveland, Jaelyn Cleveland, Kaliah Leadingham, Julian Lopez, Reese Hansen, Kawika Whalawitsa, Wyatt Toulou, Jaxon Krohn, Noah Hunt, and Zane Chaffee.
