Preview: LRHS Track and Field starts Monday March 6.

The LRHS boys and girls track and field team beganpractice Monday March 6 at the Grand Coulee Middle School.
The head coach is Lori Adkins, Assistant coach Ashley Atkins and volunteer coaches include Nancy Kuiper and Christi Portch.
“The teams are expecting to have about 20-25 kids this year,” said Coach Adkins.
Last year the track team was “a small, all girls team that did really well. We had one state competitor.” said Adkins.
Almira Coulee City Hartline High School comes to the Grand Coulee Middle School to practice because they do not have a track .
Adkins said she expects her top placing athletes will be “Carly Nedd,o a Junior, in field events, Logan Marconi, a senior, in middle distance, Raeley Portch, a junior, in hurdles, Arianna Waters, a junior, in field events and Kaylee Wodka, a senior from ACH, in sprints. The rest are new and we will just have to see.”
“I hope everyone has fun, picks up lifelong healthy habits and scoring as a team would be fun.” said Adkins.
“Yes, I’m super excited, track is my favorite sport because it’s outside.” said Neddo.
Neddo placed 6th place in the shot put at state last season.
The first LRHS track and field meet will be the Ray Cross Invitational meet March 25th in Ephrata.
